Fire and Ice: The Winter War of Finland and Russia

< Back Next >
Production moved to the grounds of the Tank Museum in Parola for the next few days of shooting.

Finns, under heavy attack by Russian artillery and armor, retreat in the early days of the Winter War.

Many Finns are killed in relentless artillery barrages that precede Soviet offensives.

Short of anti-tank weapons, Finns resorted to Molotov Cocktails, bottles filled with a highly flammable liquid, thrown by hand against Soviet armor.

The scene is shot with two cameras. The first camera is on a tripod (left, next to the tree). The second camera is mounted on a Jib Arm. A smoke machine adds atmospherics.
